STAY SAFE! Talk to your doctor about ways to control your seizures. Here are a few ideas.

Avoid things that trigger your seizures like flashing lights, low blood sugar levels, or
lack of sleep.

In case you have a seizure while you're in the bathroom: make sure the bathroom door opens outwards; use an “occupied“ sign rather than a lock; fill the bathtub only partway (or use the shower, with a safety strap if necessary).

Try to make it safe around your home in case you fall during a seizure. Don't leave things lying around on the floor.

Use the right safety equipment when taking part in sports.

When you’re swimming, make sure someone is there who will know what to do if you have a seizure. It’s also a good idea to wear a life vest when you’re near water.

If you ride a bicycle, make sure you wear a helmet.

What to do during a seizure. How can your friends help?

If your friends see you or anyone else having a seizure, there are a few things you can tell them to do to help out:

Find a grown-up immediately
Move things out of your way
If laying on a hard surface, put something underneath to cushion your head
Don’t put anything in your mouth
Be nice to you when you wake up
